My job as a construction project manager in municipal government has to be one of the most ill-suited careers for an INTP… is that right? It sure feels like it, but I’m curious if that’s an obvious yes to you.

For an INFP I think the big issue is novelty. For example, construction project management for those islands the government built in Dubai – that’s an engineering and design spectacle and there’s innovation everywhere. (To be clear, I think the whole thing is stupid and wasteful, but it’s a useful example.) The project manager for that would need to be an INTJ or INTP because they needed to create new solutions constantly.
If you’re working for city government and it’s not NYC or something like that then my guess is you took the job so you could have something else in your life – understanding what you made as a tradeoff will tell a lot about you.
