Blog-to-Book Deals

Can you take a look at my blog [link redacted] and maybe give it a mention on your site?  I am desperate for my blog to take off, so I can write for a living, which has always been my ambition. I am focussed on writing. I write every day. I am trying to tie the blog posts together, give it a narrative and make it more novel-ish. I have no idea if this will work. Any advice on that front would be welcomed…

I dont think you need to worry about promoting your blog. Really. I just think you should focus on being a better writer. A narrative-type blog is totally dependent on great writing – not marketing.

I had to write for ten years before I could support myself writing. I think you have a long way to go. The only way you could support yourself with the kind of writing you’re doing is with a book contract. You are pretty far from that.

You need to keep your job. Look at waiterrant.com. He has a contract and he’s still a waiter. People who live in NYC and have three novels published still need a spouse to support them while they write.

Do the blog if you love writing the blog. It’s not going to allow you to quit your day job. But i fyou dont’ love the craft of writing enough to get better just for the sake of getting better, then it’s probably not really your dream to write.
