Where are the best science tutors?

Hi Penelope. I figured you might know where to find an online college chemistry tutor. Is there any online tutoring service you have found that works for advanced science classes?

If it’s for a standardized test, I’d use Princeton Review. They are so expensive but it’s totally worth it. My oldest was getting a 3 on AP chemistry two weeks before the exam. With Princeton Review for two weeks of tutoring every day and they ended up getting a 5. The two weeks of tutoring was nearly $10K but it doesn’t sound like you’re under the gun like we were.

We found that in person tutoring is important for chemistry because of the equations. In general, the only online tutoring that has been successful for us is languages. Otherwise we’ve done it all in person. And that was a huge problem when we lived on the farm.

If you want tutoring just for keeping up in school I’d use Wyzant. Wyzant is a little difficult to use because you have to try a few tutors to find one. But I always find good ones there if I try a few. On Wyzant you get what you pay for, so don’t do the really inexpensive ones and don’t do tutors who haven’t had a lot of hours (they show you the hours of each tutor).

That said, I’d choose in person over really experienced and see how it goes. In person works so much better for a kid who is already having trouble with the material.

Let me know if you have more questions!
